Clarke Farm & Kampala Coffee Culture (2 Days)

Day 1:

  • Morning: Early start in Kampala to enjoy a welcome cup of single-origin Ugandan Arabica at a boutique café. Meet your guide and get an overview of Uganda’s coffee heritage.
  • Midday: Drive to Clarke Farm in Fort Portal. Stroll through lush coffee forests, visit the seedling nursery, and watch the pulping and drying process in action.
    Over night: Eco lodge tour at Clarke coffee farm or similar. BB

Day 2:

  • Morning: Join a roasting workshop — smell the beans as they crack, then taste the difference between light and dark roasts.
  • Evening: Dinner at a farm-to-table restaurant where dishes are infused with coffee — think coffee-rubbed beef or espresso chocolate cake.
    Over night: Eco lodge tour at Clarke coffee farm or similar. BB

Day 3

  • Morning: Transfer to Kibale Forest for a date with the Chimps.
  • Midday: Coffee-inspired cooking class with a local chef.
  • Coffee crawl — visit three artisan roasters, sampling espresso, pour-over, and cold brew.
    Lunch and Transfer back to Kampala.

NACORI Research & Cultural Coffee Trail (3 Days)

National Coffee Research Institute
Day 1:

  • Morning: Depart Kampala for NACORI in Mukono.
  • Midday: Tour experimental coffee plots, learning about climate-resilient varieties and pest control innovations.
  • Afternoon: Plant your own coffee seedling in the institute’s demonstration garden.
    Evening: Stay at a nearby eco-lodge surrounded by banana groves. Enjoy a traditional Ugandan dinner.

Day 2:

  • Morning: Visit smallholder farms in the surrounding hills. Watch hand-picking of ripe cherries and traditional sun-drying on raised beds.
  • Afternoon: Coffee cupping with a cooperative — compare flavour notes from different terroirs.
  • Evening: Cultural night with drumming, dance, and storytelling about coffee’s role in local life.

Day 3:

  • Morning: Participate in a sustainability workshop on organic farming and fair-trade practices.
  • Midday: Stop at a roadside coffee market for fresh beans before returning to Kampala.

Bwindi Coffee & Gorilla Highlands Experience (3 Days)

Day 1:

  • Morning: Scenic drive to Bwindi, passing tea plantations and rolling hills.
    Overnight in a forest-view lodge, with the sounds of crickets and distant waterfalls.
    Over night: Gorilla Bluff Buhoma

Day 2:

  • Morning: Optional gorilla trekking in Bwindi (permit required) — a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounter.
  • Afternoon: Visit a community-run coffee farm where beans grow under the shade of indigenous trees.
  • Roast beans over a wood fire, grind them with a mortar and pestle, and sip freshly brewed coffee with farmers.
    Visit a local crafts market selling coffee soap, woven baskets, and hand-carved mugs.
  • Evening: Coffee-pairing dinner featuring local dishes like matoke and groundnut sauce.
    Over night: Gorilla Bluff Buhoma

Day 3:

  • Morning: Sunrise coffee tasting on a ridge overlooking the misty forest. Return journey with photo stops at scenic viewpoints.

Mt. Elgon Coffee & Sipi Falls Adventure (3 Days)

  • Morning: Drive to the Mt. Elgon region, famous for its high-altitude Arabica.
  • Afternoon: Brewing masterclass with local baristas, trying traditional clay pot brewing and modern espresso.
  • Tour a coffee farm — pick cherries, see the washing station, and learn about fermentation.

Day 2:

  • Morning: Optional abseiling down Sipi Falls or a guided nature walk through coffee and banana plantations.
  • Hike to Sipi Falls with a coffee picnic — enjoy the aroma of freshly brewed coffee as the falls roar nearby.

  • Midday: Visit a cooperative for a cupping session, identifying floral, fruity, and chocolate notes.

Day 3:

  • Morning: Return to Kampala or continue to Jinja for a Nile River extension.

Ntungamo Coffee Park (Inspire Africa)

Day 1:

  • Morning: Drive to Ntungamo. The Africa Coffee Park is more than a processing plant, it is a coffee ecosystem featuring various facilities including Sports Complex, Exhibition Centre, Coffee Academy and IT Innovation Park to support Africa’s AI ambitions among others. All these components are designed not only to support production and training but also to position Uganda as a destination for coffee tourism and international investment famous for its high-altitude Arabica.
  • Afternoon: Brewing masterclass with local baristas, trying traditional clay pot brewing and modern espresso.
  • Tour a coffee farm — pick cherries, see the washing station, and learn about fermentation.
    Over night: Ankole Resort an SPA or Similar. BB

Day 2:

  • All day inspection at the park.
    The tour includes a visit to the coffee demonstration farm, showcasing advancements in Uganda coffee value chain from seedling propagation to value addition.

  • Morning: Return to Kampala while experiencing the unique attractions and working farm tours of the western Uganda.
